Matt’s Story

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Matt Zahler.  My parents are Maureen and Doug Zahler.  I am 28 years old, and I still live with them.

Am I a slacker, you may ask?  The answer is no.  In fact, I am an unemployed accountant with three college degrees, so I am clearly not a slacker.  I am a hard working American citizen who is crying out for change for this country.

I am one of many Americans who are the unemployed due to our current labor policies.  Right now, our labor policies are being sacrificed in the name of our method of capitalism, by focusing only on the short-term profits instead of seeing the big picture.  The big picture is that our country is continuing to deteriorate into a wellfare and crime-ridden state because too many Americans are out of work, and cannot better their lives.  Too many of us are losing our jobs, our dreams, and our hopes.  If this continues, we are doomed to fall into the abyss of darkness.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am mad as hell, and I am not going to take this anymore.  I am sick of the mismanagement of our government, which caters to lobbyists and special interests.  I am tired of rewarding only the rich and upper class, and not including our hard working citizens and legal aliens.  I am disgusted that our precious resources are being wasted in a costly war in Iraq.  How many of our soldiers have to continue to come back dead or deformed and disenfranchised in the name of taking over another country’s oil reserves?  Why couldn’t we take out our number one enemy, Osama Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda network, instead of diverting our attention to Iraq, which proved not to be a threat?  How long are we going to accept an incompetent government?

I have had it, my friends.  We are witnessing our proud nation being taken over by power, greed, and corruption.  Americans, we must now rise up through peace and enlightenment and select leaders who have the “intellectual curiosity” and desire to change this country for the better.

There is no doubt in my mind the best individual for the job of President of the United States is Barack Obama.  Some may say he’s a socialist or communist, an elitist, a celebrity, a terrorist, and a person of color.  No, my friends he’s one of us.  He and Joe Biden understand our nation, and our problems.  Barack Obama will put the best people in power, who do not have special agendas, and create a government, so every single American can achieve success through hard work and dedication towards their American dream.  The most powerful act you can perform for your country is VOTE!  Thank you for your time.
