Cheryl and I have been moved to political action in the past over a number of causes. She worked the phone banks during Bill Clinton’s run for office in 1992 and has been an advocate for animal rights. I marched against the Iraq war in 2003. We realize that as Americans we enjoy a democracy and we have a voice.
But over the past few years we have felt, along with many of our friends, that corruption, greed, illegal wars and powerful corporate interests have had an overwhelmingly destructive influence on our civic discourse and our personal lives. Obama stands out as the expression of a collective desire to reclaim our voices of reason and progressivism. We support his vision for a more inclusive and conscientious America, and feel that he would be a champion of our values of justice, freedom and democracy.”
